The king

As most children do, our children constantly make us wonder where they come from. Well, last night as we were putting Ernie to bed he asked his dad this question, "Dad, why is Michael Jackson the king of pop?". WHAT???? We both looked at each other and could both see that we both had no idea he knew who that Was! Guess he has been getting up early to watch the news again. We thought we had broke him of that habbit.

Even Oscar has his nice moments

Have you ever had those days when you are just plain grouchy? I'm sure everyone does...at least I hope I'm not alone in the world. The last few days I have been really onery. No particular reason, at least I can't think of one. (Usually a girl can blame the calander.....) So I have been so irritated with myself because I am grouchy with everyone around me as well. (My poor children and husband) I laid in bed last night so frustrated with myself for still being in the not so happy-go-ucky funk.
Well, when I woke up this morning, I decided, you know what, it's okay to be onery once in a while! Sometimes we just feel like being grouchy. Who needs a reason to be onery? I decided I don't need a reason. Since I am practicly perfect in every other way, I'm doing just fine. And guess what, I already feel better!
So I am just voicing my okay to the world to go ahead and have an onery day (or two....or three....once you get into the double and triple digits, you should probably stop justifying).
Then when you feel like you are close to being done being grouchy, have some chocolate or a diet coke with lime. The lack of such is probably what made you onery to begin with.

PROUD TO BE AMERICANS

This weekend was a lot of fun. It was hard not to be with family and friends, and all alone out here in the dessert,(very HOT dessert...picture to prove it, IT WAS 117!) so we decided we would fill it with as much stuff as we possibly could (Bailey style). We started out the weekend with a little trip down to the beach, with dad, because usually it's just the three of us.

That day we went "camping". Well, we'll start with the fact that we stayed in a little cabin, not a tent. We ended up being grateful for it because the one day a year that it rains here, happened to be that night, it pored rain! So, we decided to skip the smores (seeing as a fire was impossible) and we drove into town and took the kids to see a movie. So, not quite as we planned, but we had a good time. We woke up really early and had a camp fire, roasted marshmellows, and made smores in the morning. Nothing like smores for breakfast! (We had orange juice too, I know they need their vitamins!)

Yes it was very hot. We defanitely didn't snuggle by the fire for warmth. Camping for our boys means a campfire, we could have a campfire on the side of a highway, and they would tell people they had been camping!
So we had our little fire, then the campground had a little parade thing with a little train they made, and Caleb rode around the camp ground waking people up. He loved it. Ernie felt the train ride was a little adolescent (he is 6, what were we thinking?)
When we got home we got ready to go down to the festivities here at a park. (After a much needed nap and shower....) They had a TON of fun stuff for the kids, and they loved it! We didn't know they would have that many water activities, so we didn't come very prepared, but we had the boys take off their shirts and go to town. Now is when I should probably mention the selfless and increadable parents that we are. Yes, while we allowed the boys to frolick throught the water, we sat there dripping buckets up sweat. Yes, I am thinking that I am just going to have to sit in the lake all day, every day, the whole summer, or sit at home in my air conditioned house. Anyway, they had a blast!
And of course, the fireworks topped off the long day. They were absolutely amazing! Well done Lake Havasu! Can I just tell you that you all need to watch a 30 min fireworks display over a lake. It was amazing to see them all reflecting off the water.
So, we weren't thrilled about not having any friends or family to be with for the holiday, but we ended up having a great time together. (Even if the boys festive outfits didn't last long.)
I should finally say that I feel so increadably blessed for this country. It is so amazing to be able to have the increadable apportunities that we have. I know you all are just as grateful. Good 'ole America!

First Kindergarten Graduation, then he's driving, then he's gone forever.....

So, we haven't dropped off the face of the earth..... We are still existant and I am sure you are wondering what we have been up to. Well, I have a lot of updating.I decided to start with ernie's kindergarten graduation. Ernie was so funnny. All of the kids had to participate twice in the ceremonies. First they told us what they wanted to be when they grow up. Ernie wants to be "Officer Ernie". Then they each recited a nursery rhyme or poem. When ernie stood up to recite "Last Day Of School", the whole class behind him on the stage cheered! I thought that was so cute, it really showed his realtionship with the class. He will really miss all of those kids. Thank you Grandma, Karli, and Holly and her kids for coming, oh and Grandpa Ernie in spirit. It is funny that we crate such a hupla for kindergarten to be over, but it is kind of sad. No more lunch with mom every day....Now we only have the summers. Yes, I am a bit dramatic, but it just goes by too fast!

He had so many good friends. Although, he was very upset that he didn't get a picture with Nick.

There were so many different milestones for Ernie this year. To name a few, he lost his first tooth, he had his first crush (good thing he dosen't read this, but it's the adorable girl that he is standing as far away from as possible in the above picture), he began his obsession with Star Wars, and he then ended his obsession with Star Wars. He just plain grew up. We can't believe the depth of his understadning, and the strength of resolve to stand up and do the things that he believes in. (One funny example, he went to his friend Tate's b-day, and they had spiderman tatoos, which he wouldn't get. He came home and said, "that is so gross, why would anyone even get a fake tatoo, they are so bad ,you shouldn't even get a fake one." To which, Caleb responded, "but I got one, want to see it?")
