This weekend was a lot of fun. It was hard not to be with family and friends, and all alone out here in the dessert,(very HOT dessert...picture to prove it, IT WAS 117!) so we decided we would fill it with as much stuff as we possibly could (Bailey style). We started out the weekend with a little trip down to the beach, with dad, because usually it's just the three of us.

That day we went "camping". Well, we'll start with the fact that we stayed in a little cabin, not a tent. We ended up being grateful for it because the one day a year that it rains here, happened to be that night, it pored rain! So, we decided to skip the smores (seeing as a fire was impossible) and we drove into town and took the kids to see a movie. So, not quite as we planned, but we had a good time. We woke up really early and had a camp fire, roasted marshmellows, and made smores in the morning. Nothing like smores for breakfast! (We had orange juice too, I know they need their vitamins!)

Yes it was very hot. We defanitely didn't snuggle by the fire for warmth. Camping for our boys means a campfire, we could have a campfire on the side of a highway, and they would tell people they had been camping!

So we had our little fire, then the campground had a little parade thing with a little train they made, and Caleb rode around the camp ground waking people up. He loved it. Ernie felt the train ride was a little adolescent (he is 6, what were we thinking?)

So, we weren't thrilled about not having any friends or family to be with for the holiday, but we ended up having a great time together. (Even if the boys festive outfits didn't last long.)
I should finally say that I feel so increadably blessed for this country. It is so amazing to be able to have the increadable apportunities that we have. I know you all are just as grateful. Good 'ole America!
Sounds like fun! We missed you at grandmas
