TAKE 2

Last week we made a very tough decision. To make a long story short, we weren't very impressed by any means with the charter school Ernie was going to. We finally decided that instead of being worried about it, that we should just switch him to an elementary we had heard great things about. We were very fortunate that they decided to let Ernie transfer there. So, that lead us to a whole new first day of school!

A second set of school supplies were bought, a new new outfit purchased (seeing as he now has a wardrobe consisting of pretty much white polos and khaki shorts :) Ernie had his second first day of school last Thursday! He is now going to Jamaica Elementary and his teacher's name is Mrs. Helman. We love her and are just thrilled with the school itself! Ernie has made a ton of friends already and enjoys school A LOT more! I can't tell you how relived I am. We felt awful making him start over, yet again. But I am positive we made the right move. It's going very well. Ernie is especially pleased and is very positive about everything. (All of this, in case you were wondering, is why we weren't able to make it to Boise for the weekend. We just couldn't make him miss two days of school right after he started!)

This change has made it a lot easier for me to adapt to Lake Havasu. I was very concerned all the time about Ernie, and he talked a lot about missing his old school, which you can imagine was really hard for me. He is so happy now every day after school, and he has already adapted extremely well to his new situation. He definitely feels right at home. These pictures are even from after school (my camera battery was dead in the morning, don't you hate that ?!) and he is so excited!

You can see Caleb was thrilled as well. I couldn't even get him off the couch to take a picture with Ernie! (And by the way, the dog is Big Fluffy. It is actually my sis-in-law Karli's, but she was kind enough to hand it over to Caleb after he developed an attachment. has been his constant companion ever since, pink collar and all.)

  1. Holy cow. you are so brave. We had a mouse in our apartment in Alaska one time and I stood on a chair until it was dead in the trap 3 days later. I hate the thought of anything besides humans in the house!!!
anyway, Claire loves school and Miss Wilkins and Mrs. Stephenson. They both said to tell you and Ernie hi.

  3. I was reading the comments is jody's daughter Claire at Nampa Classical Academy? Happy Birthday Ernie...Nick turns 7 on the 19th and he is VERY excited about it. He has about 20 different plans so we shall see what actually happens. My Aunt is here from VT and bought him a spark flying Razor scooter today for his birthday he hasn't let go of it since he got home. He stored it in the box tonight in his room and tells everyone they have to wear shorts so the sparks don't catch your pants on fire. When is the next scheduled trip to Boise??
